About

I’m an interdisciplinary artist born in Leeds, UK, and currently based in West Cumbria, UK. My creative journey began when I was 16, studying Media Production at Thomas Danby College (2003 - 2005), I discovered a passion for film/video, photography, graphic design, and art. Following a Media Production degree from the University of Lincoln, I embarked on a career in graphic design.

Over the course of several years, my creative practice developed, initially exploring photography and print, which led to one of my photographic works being included in the Leeds Open Exhibition (2009), Leeds Art Gallery.

In early 2019 I created We Are Not Cool, an audio project creating and releasing ambient soundscapes. Then, in early 2021, intrigued by emerging NFT technology, I began to explore digital art, merging my love of minimalism and graphic design with abstract art. This led to the creation of Bilnd, a moniker under which I now operate as a digital artist.

Over time, and with the introduction of an iPad Pro into my artistic toolkit, my graphic works began to morph into abstract paintings. Ongoing exploration has led to introducing traditional physical painting into my practice, alongside digital works that include painting, audio, video, and graphic pieces.

Music

This musical project started as a quiet escape just before the pandemic—a way to carve out space for myself when things felt uncertain. Over the last six years, making music has become a steady part of my life, something I return to without expectation. I work simply: most pieces begin with improvisation on the piano. I’m not chasing a particular sound but instead trying to capture a feeling or a place I’ve been. That sense of place runs through everything I make—each track becomes a kind of map back to a memory or a space that lingers.

I use Ableton Live along with virtual instruments by Slate + Ash and Spitfire Audio. My process is instinctive; I play things live and slowly layer sounds, usually keeping the instrumentation stripped back to just two or three elements. I like the clarity that comes from simplicity—it gives the music room to breathe. Right now, everything I create is studio-based, but there’s a part of me that wonders what it would feel like to bring these pieces into a live setting one day. Although I keep this project separate from my visual art, they both live under the same name, and maybe that’s enough for now.
